When it comes to shipping incoterms, there’s 11 common way show below. And here we will introduce 4 most frequently used terms as following.
Definition:
EXW stands for “Ex Works” and it indicates that the seller fulfills their obligation to deliver when they have made the goods available at their premises (factory, warehouse, etc.) to the buyer. The buyer bears all costs and risks involved in taking the goods from the seller’s premises to the desired destination.

FOB stands for “Free on Board” and it means that the seller delivers the goods on board the vessel nominated by the buyer at the named port of shipment. The risk of loss or damage to the goods passes when the goods are on board the vessel, and the buyer bears all costs from that point onward.

CFR stands for “Cost and Freight” and it indicates that the seller must pay the costs and freight necessary to bring the goods to the named port of destination. However, the risk of loss or damage, as well as any additional costs due to events occurring after the goods have been delivered on board the vessel, are transferred from the seller to the buyer when the goods pass the ship’s rail in the port of shipment.

CIF stands for “Cost, Insurance, and Freight” and it means that the seller delivers when the goods pass the ship’s rail in the port of shipment.
